Pricing

VEXPay’s standard rates per payment rail, worked examples at 100, 300 and 1,000, and what is free. The buyer always pays exactly the listed price.

Standard rates

These are VEXPay’s standard rates. New accounts start on them. Your rates may differ by agreement; the Rates page in your portal always shows the rates your account actually pays, with the same worked examples.

RailStandard feeCharged on
Bolívar pay-ins (Pago Móvil, débito/crédito inmediato, C2P)3.5% + $0.25The USD amount, paid in Bs at your Bolívar rate; the fixed part always at the BCV rate
Debit card4.0% + $0.25The charge; the fixed part at the BCV rate
Credit card10.0% + $0.25The charge; the fixed part at the BCV rate
Instant withdrawal to your own bank account3.5% (the bolívar percentage)The amount withdrawn
USDT pay-ins2.5% + 0.50 USDTThe amount received (never more than the amount received)
Colombian peso pay-ins (card, PSE, Bancolombia, Bre-B, Nequi, Daviplata)4.5% + COP 1,500The peso amount (never more than the amount; minimum COP 20,000 per payment); returned on a refund
USDT payouts to an external addressThe payout fee of the chosen network (see below)Each payout

One exception: a buyer who pays a USD-priced checkout in Colombian pesos is charged the USD amount at VEX Pay’s USDT/COP rate plus a 2.5% FX margin, rounded up to whole pesos. The peso total is shown before the buyer pays, and you receive it in your COP balance net of the COP fee.

Worked examples

Computed with the same fee functions the ledger uses, and rounded to cents the same way. Bolívar and card amounts are USD prices; the buyer pays them in Bs at your Bolívar rate (BCV or market), and the conversion is free.

ChargeVEXPay feeYou receiveAfter instant withdrawal
$100.00$3.75$96.25$92.88
$300.00$10.75$289.25$279.13
$1,000.00$35.25$964.75$930.98

“After instant withdrawal” is what reaches your own bank account when you withdraw the whole balance: the bolívar percentage is charged again on the amount withdrawn.

ChargeDebit feeYou receive (debit)Credit feeYou receive (credit)
$100.00$4.25$95.75$10.25$89.75
$300.00$12.25$287.75$30.25$269.75
$1,000.00$40.25$959.75$100.25$899.75

Card sales land in your bolívar balance, so moving them to your bank goes through the same instant withdrawal shown above.

Whether a card is debit or credit is determined from the card and the account type the buyer selects (accountType 10 or 20 for debit, 0 for credit). A card VEXPay knows to be a credit card is always charged the credit rate, and when no account type is given, a card VEXPay can’t identify is charged the credit rate.

ChargeVEXPay feeYou receiveAfter a 1.00 USDT payout

300.00 USDT8.00 USDT292.00 USDT291.00 USDT
1,000.00 USDT25.50 USDT974.50 USDT973.50 USDT

The last column assumes an external payout fee of 1.00 USDT. Payout fees are per network; the live fee for each one is listed below. A USDT charge at or below the fixed fee is charged the amount itself and nets 0 — never less.

Small charges and the fixed fee

Every bolívar and card payment pays the percentage plus a fixed $0.25. On large charges the fixed part barely matters; on small ones it is most of the fee.

ChargeVEXPay feeYou receiveFee as share of the charge
$1.00$0.29$0.7129.0%
$2.00$0.32$1.6816.0%
$5.00$0.43$4.578.6%
$10.00$0.60$9.406.0%
$20.00$0.95$19.054.8%
$50.00$2.00$48.004.0%

The same $1 charge in bolívares, at an example BCV rate. The percentage converts at your Bolívar rate (BCV here); the fixed $0.25 always converts at BCV.

  • Charge: $1.00 × 886.2271 (BCV) = Bs 886.23
  • Percentage: 3.5% of Bs 886.23 = Bs 31.02
  • Fixed fee: $0.25 × 886.2271 (BCV) = Bs 221.56
  • Total fee: Bs 252.57 (rounded once, on the total)
  • You receive: Bs 886.23 − Bs 252.57 = Bs 633.66

Best practices when you charge

  • Price the fixed fee in. The buyer always pays exactly your price and the fee comes out of what you receive, so on low-ticket items add the $0.25 to the price, or keep prices where the fee is acceptable to you: from $5 it is under 9%, from $10 about 6%.
  • Charge once per order, not once per item. The fixed fee applies per payment: five $1 items paid together cost $0.43 in fees, paid separately $1.43.
  • Set a minimum order for bolívar and card payments in your store or app.
  • Card sales cost more: credit cards are 10% + $0.25. Consider a higher minimum when the buyer pays by card.
  • Check the fee before you share a link. Portal → Rates shows your own rates with examples, and GET /v1/me/merchant/payment-links/preview (the VEX Wallet "create Payment Link" screen) returns the exact fee in Bs for an amount.
  • Withdraw when it suits you. Instant withdrawals are a percentage with no fixed fee, so how often you withdraw does not change what you pay.

USDT payout fees

NetworkPayout fee
BNB Smart Chain (BEP20)1.00 USDT
Polygon1.00 USDT
Solana1.00 USDT

Payout fees are set per network and charged once per payout, for USDT and USDC alike. The table above comes from GET /public/pricing; the exact fee for a payout is returned before you send it by GET /v1/crypto/networks.

What is free

  • Payouts to your verified merchants
  • Payouts to VEX Wallet
  • Micro-deposit verification of payout accounts
  • The BCV conversion — USD prices convert to Bs at the official BCV rate with no markup

How fees reach your balance

  1. Credit the collection

On payment.completed, the ledger posts PAYMENT_CREDIT for vesAmount.

  2. Debit the VEXPay fee

PLATFORM_FEE posts −feeVes: feeVes = usdAmount × (feePercent / 100) at the payment’s rate (BCV or market) + feeFixedUsd at the BCV rate, rounded once.

  3. Hold the reserve

Available balance subtracts reserveVes as a safety buffer, if your account has one. It is not a separate ledger entry — it is applied when reading the balance.

  4. Hold new credits for 24 hours

Every credit to your balance — payments in Bs, USDT and COP, conversion credits, adjustments — is held for balanceHoldHours (24h) before payouts can spend it. Held money shows as heldVes (held for stablecoins, heldCop for pesos) with nextReleaseAt, and is released automatically. Payouts asking for more than the available part get 422 insufficient_balance with heldVes and nextReleaseAt. Conversions and seller transfers may use held money; what they produce stays held until the original hold ends. Reversals, chargebacks and refunds still apply to held money.

Where your rates are set

Rates are set per account by VEXPay. There is no plan picker on the payment APIs, and a rate change never rewrites past payments.

  • Portal → Rates: your effective rates, which ones differ from the standard, and worked examples with your rates.
  • Marketplace seller payouts remain separate: retain your product fee by paying sellers less than you collected. See Marketplace settlement.
  • Importable collect → payout walkthrough: Postman.
